Today was another "Free Day" for mine and a couple other families in our group... so we had out Pearl Market tour!!! The other families had their Consulate Appointments this morning.
I don't know when it started, but MANY Adoptive families make this trek to the Pearl Market to purchase a pearl necklace for their daughters future birthday, prom day or Wedding Day.... so, of course, I had to do the same thing. The reality is that it is a Discount Pearl Market.... so the Pearl Necklace and earings that I paid $185USD for.... would have cost 2-3 times that cost in the USA!
6 levels of stores selling Pearls and other Pecious Stones and Jewelery Making stones and sculptures!! |
It was AMAZING watching my Mom (the jewelry person between her and I) choose a string of pearls and then to watch the Sales Ladies just stand there and put double knots between each pearl. There hands move SO fast... you just knew if you interupted them... they would make a mistake... the muscles memory and movement were Very Obvious!!!
Bags and Bags of Pearl and other Precious Stone necklaces |
This is the Pearl Presentation. Salt Water Pearls - $50/$80/$150. Then the Fresh Water Pearls.... less expensive. |
All the ladies & girls checking out the pearls... including B'Elanna. See her standing in her stroller looking at the earrings and necklaces! |
The Sales ladies tying double knots by rote-memory! |
All the babies enjoyed the feel of the pearl. This is Freddy grabbing a few. |
B'Elanna: "Grammy...Mommy won't let me play with the pearls!!" |
Oh, the self control I had to exert NOT to let my Mom spend all her money on all the other stones they were selling.... she wanted them to make jewelry.
The Husbands and other kids staying out of the way of the.... SHOPPING WOMEN!!! |
